As a result of Covid-19 life style has changed dramatically specially in the education sector with 

the distinctive rise of E-learning .Whereby teaching and learning is undertaken remotely and on a 

digital platform. The Covid-19 has resulted in schools and institutions shut all across the world. 

Globally over 1.2 billion children are out of the classroom but with the technology even the 

impossible seems possible now. According to my personal view I think learning in a classroom is 

more personal and interactive but there are lots of benefits in E- learning too. So let’s discuss 

about cons and pros in E- learning.

If you have access to the internet 24/7 you can train yourself and train yourself from anywhere,

anytime. E -learning is very convenient and flexible option and above all you don’t have to 

depend on anyone. E-learning requires massive self-motivation and proper time management 

skills. But in the present e-learning is a become huge problem in some countries. Lack of 

telephone and computer facilities for children is a major problem for e-learning, according to a 

survey by LEARN ASIA. According to Dr. Sujatha Gamage the Coordinator of Sri Lanka 

Education Forum, only 46% of the Sri Lankan student community has access to E-learning.

Online instructors tend to focus on theory rather than practice. But student must engage with 

theoretical and practical knowledge. Having poor online instructions can be harmful to a 

student’s future. One of most glaring issue is student addiction, and mainly harmful to eyes and 

brain. At last but not least there is also the problem of extent of security of online learning 

programs. 

In my personal view E-learning is an incredibly powerful tool that many people have embraced 

over the last decade. But there are some problems too. We must pay our attention to solve those 

issues
